Tools Consolidation for Energy and Telco Firm Norlys
With 3,500 employees, Norlys is Denmark’s largest energy and telco group. Fueled by mergers, the growth left the company facing multiple monitoring systems, technology redundancies and a substantial burden of manual work required to ensure proper data capture.
Norlys’ existing technology infrastructure was costly to operate and provided only minimal visibility into operations. Excessive manual work was required to manage multiple processes across different systems and constantly check multiple locations to verify data. All of this resulted in a longer MTTR and a steeply declining customer satisfaction score (CSAT).
To overcome these barriers to effective service, Norlys chose to deploy SL1 with a focus on several key goals, ultimately achieving rapid API integration that allowed 6,000+ devices to be added and ready for production within just a few days. The solution also streamlined ticketing integration with ServiceNow to eliminate a substantial amount of manual work; and the client leveraged ScienceLogic’s PowerPacks to automate a variety of tasks.
With SL1, Norlys realized dramatic improvements across its entire IT operation. These include lower MTTR via automated ticketing and event enhancement; lower operational costs through consolidation, standardization and futureproofing of IT assets; and improved staff efficiency and CSAT via tooling that frees up employee time for big-picture initiatives.
Enabling AIOps for a Leading Global Shared Services IT Company
This global organization’s IT team supports all infrastructure and application services for 360,000 employees. Struggling with slow processes and an overly reactive response to incidents, the firm utilized ScienceLogic’s SL1 platform to unlock AIOps capabilities and stabilize network operations, reduce operational costs, improve the UX and provide a more predictive operations model.
Previously, the company faced major obstacles including siloed monitoring tools that obscured the visibility of most new technology deployments and afforded no real-time business service visibility. In addition, CMDB was incomplete and contained inaccuracies, and excessive incident noise was slowing average MTTR to 5 hours. Manual interventions for each major infrastructure incident occurrence required up to seven full-time employees for resolution.
Upon deploying the SL1 platform, the company was able to stabilize its infrastructure, move from asset-based monitoring to service-based monitoring, expand end-to-end services and build out integrations to its CMDB. The SL1 platform also enabled the company to leverage predictive automation to drastically reduce extra incident and event noise.
With SL1, the company achieved several mission-critical business goals, including 50% reduction of MTTR and 30% reduction in response time; 100% monitoring of 35,000 devices, up from 30% prior to SL1’s deployment; 66% reduction of incident noise and 38% reduction in major incidents. The solution also reaped 32,000 hours in productivity gains from automated ticketing & routing.
