Letter from Dave

Letter from the CEOAs we approach the end of 2008, I want to personally thank our customers for your continued business and tremendous loyalty to ScienceLogic, especially during such challenging times. It was an exciting year for ScienceLogic as we achieved many wonderful new customer, revenue and product milestones, but we never forget our commitment to serve.

I hear often from many of you & encourage comments on our blog and EM7 support center. I want to thank you for your well wishes, great ideas and suggestions on how we can serve you even better. As we enter 2009, we will continue to improve our products and drive innovative solutions that provide real value to your daily IT Operations.

In lieu of printing and mailing cards, this year ScienceLogic is making a donation to Feeding America on behalf of our friends, customers and colleagues. We invite you to click on the link to learn more about Feeding America. I encourage everyone to consider the importance of giving back during a time when many are in need. Coming in 2009

Looking forward to IT in 2009

The New Year is just around the corner and we’re eager to preview our plans for EM7 in 2009. Stay tuned for the news as we launch the next generation of EM7 Meta-Appliances to help enterprises and service providers simplify management of the new and expanded set of requirements and technologies needed for advanced virtualization and cloud computing initiatives. At the recent Gartner Data Center Conference, a third of respondents already use or plan to use external cloud services by 2009. By 2012, 65% plan to use external cloud services, and only 11% said they have no plans. It only confirms what we believed - we’re just seeing the beginning when it comes to cloud computing.

Beyond an uptake by enterprise IT using external cloud services, we expect more EM7 service provider customers to leverage EM7 in their efforts to blur the lines between managed services and cloud computing. EM7 already includes features that service providers use to manage and expand their business, like multi-tenancy, bandwidth billing for network usage-based chargeback and branded customer portals. In 2009, we build upon that base to provide all customers the tools they need to manage their dynamic and rapidly changing computing environments.

Official Network Provider - InteropNet 2009

ScienceLogic named Official InteropNet provider for Network Monitoring and HelpdeskFor the second consecutive year, ScienceLogic has been chosen as the Official InteropNet Network Provider for Network Monitoring and Helpdesk. Helping out InteropNet in 2008 was an amazing experience, and we expect even more from monitoring the world’s largest temporary network this year. Vegas – here we come!

InteropNet is run by skilled engineers who staff and support the NOC and helpdesk. One dedicated alumni is Father Robert “Padre” Ballecer, who also hosts gadget @ The TechStop.net. He was so impressed with using EM7 at InteropNet that he did a full product evaluation. Check out the review for yourself. He calls EM7 “one of the best network management solutions on the market” and states “I mean it works. It really works. It really does what it’s supposed to do, and it does it better than any other product in the workspace.”

We’re still a bit bemused when customers marvel that EM7 “just works”. It’s a cornerstone of our product philosophy here and something we believe everyone should expect and get from every product they buy.

On the Road Again

roadmapWe wrapped up a very busy year of tradeshows and conferences at the Network World IT Roadmap show in Washington DC this month. During the Network Management, Automation & Control track, Karl Fosburg, Director of Systems Integration at Hughes Network Systems, shared how EM7 helped tackle the challenges faced by many IT operations teams – not enough people or resources, too many alarms, not enough of the right alarms and finding and selling the right solution to management. We’re proud they chose EM7, but Karl’s advice is really universal.

Thanks to everyone who has supported our efforts this year. We look forward to seeing you on the road in 2009.
